    Kill van Kull, a connecting waterway about 3 miles in length, lies along the northern shore of Staten Island, and extends from the lower end of Newark Bay to Upper New York Bay. A channel 30 feet deep at mean low water and a minimum width of feet has been constructed by dredging and rock removal through Kill van Kull from Upper New York Bay. Port Newark–Elizabeth Marine Terminal, a major component of the Port of New York and New Jersey, is the principal container ship facility for goods entering and leaving New York metropolitan area and the northeastern quadrant of North d on Newark Bay, the facility is run by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
