The first book, Faith Alone: The Doctrine of Justification (September, ), examines one of the dividing truths of Christianity: that one can only be justified before God by faith /5(28).

Edwards was & still is Americas greatest theologian of the Puritan stripe. This title is the protestant reformers cry. 'by grace alone,thru faith alone, in Christ alone'. Anything by Edwards isn't easy reading but extremely profitable to your soul. He's very trustable. He was a pastor in the 'great awakening' of & other awakenings also/5(9).

He breaks down justification by faith alone in such away that he makes the reader stand face to face with the Word of God. Explaining the futility of depending on one's works, either before or after salvation, is thoroughly accomplished by this preacher.

Jonathan Edwards has /5(9). Justification by Faith Alone (Sola Fide), the material cause of Reformation versus Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura) was the formal cause of the Reformation. Any book of this sort, with multiple contributors, is bound to be somewhat uneven in quality - but this is one of the better books of this sort that I've seen/5(11). Only when we get back to the Bible do we see that justification is by faith, apart from works.

The word justified means “pronounced or treated as righteous.” For a Christian, justification is the act of God not only forgiving the believer’s sins but imputing to him the righteousness of Christ.

I don't disagree with the contributors about Sola Fida. And yet the book was lacking. The goal of the book was to critique the New Perspective on Paul and the Federal Vision.
